The hotel formerly known as Le Meridien Budapest transitioned into the Ritz-Carlton Budapest under new management. However, recent developments indicate a change in operations following a legal dispute.
The property’s current management initiated arbitration proceedings against Marriott International, citing disagreements over the hotel’s operation. As part of the transition, guests were informed to cancel their reservations through Marriott’s app or contact center by January 6. Beyond this date, guests with existing bookings were directed to contact the hotel directly.
This situation follows a history of strained relations, with the management group previously rebranding three properties in Dubai under Hilton’s umbrella in 2018. Now, the sudden reflagging of the Ritz-Carlton Budapest suggests a continuation of operational changes.
Notably, the hotel’s location, situated above a public transportation station, has been a point of contention for some visitors, as vibrations from passing trains occasionally affect the building.
The hospitality industry awaits further updates on whether this property will align with Hilton or another major chain in the near future.
